Music Monday {6}

music mondays

On a Music Monday, I will introduce a couple of new songs that I’m enjoying with you all and put the Youtube video in so you all can check out the song. You can find the playlist on Spotify with all of these songs here.

1. 1996 by The Wombats

Rachel recommended The Wombats to me back in December and ever since then I can’t get enough of them. Their songs are upbeat and different, and I’m thoroughly in love. My favorite album is the one this song is off of, The Wombats proudly present… This Modern Glitch. (And yes, the capitalization is right on that.)

2. Fred Astaire by San Crisco

I found this song on 8tracks and have been listening to it on repeat ever since. Such a jam!

3. 505 by Arctic Monkeys

I’ve known about the Arctic Monkeys for forever, but I didn’t really like them until recently when they started popping up on 8tracks mixes. Ever since then, I can’t get enough. AM gem: Live Lounge cover of Hold On, We’re Going Home

2. Yes Yes by The Colourist

This song has been popping up on a lot of 8tracks mixes I’ve been listening to, and I’ve fallen in love with it. I jam every time it comes on.

3. To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra

I’ve put this in a couple of 8tracks mixes because it’s such a great song for any time of day. Love, love, love.

Album Review: Post Tropical – James Vincent McMorrow

posttropical

Post Tropical by James Vincent McMorrow

I loved James Vincent McMorrow’s first album, Early in the Morning which his big hit, We Don’t Eat is off of, so when his sophomore album premiered, I was so excited to see what new songs he had come up with.

Post Tropical is amazing. It’s somewhat ambient sound is perfect for mornings or evenings in bed (or homework, for a person like myself), and Cavalier the first track on the album has a bit more stripped down elements to it. Red Dust is probably my favorite off the album, with its touching lyrics and beautiful melody.  One of the most amazing things about McMorrow is his vocal range, and Post Tropical definitely shows that off in every single song.

If you haven’t already heard James Vincent McMorrow, go listen to all of his songs right now – Post Tropical is a wonderful addition to this Irish singer-songwriter’s track list.

On a Music Monday, I will introduce a couple of new songs that I’m enjoying with you all and put the Youtube video in so you all can check out the song. You can find the playlist on Spotify with all of these songs here.

1. Wasting My Young Years by London Grammar

I stumbled across London Grammar the other day in my Amazon Recommends box, and when I checked them out on Spotify, I immediately liked this band. Their sound and lyricism is so appealing, and I can see it being really appealing on a rainy day.

2. My Number by Foals

I had heard this song before on the radio and liked it, but didn’t know what it was so when I stumbled across in on Spotify, I was ecstatic. I love listening to this song while cleaning my room, or just lounging around – it’s such a fun song to listen to!

3. Kemosabe by Everything Everything

Such a jam – this song is a happy song for a weekday morning for me. Everything Everything is a great band that I hope all of you go check out – and this video is super cool!

Music Monday {3}

On a Music Monday, I will introduce a couple of new songs that I’m enjoying with you all and put the Youtube video in so you all can check out the song. You can find the playlist on Spotify with all of these songs here.

1. The Suburbs Cover by Mr. Little Jeans

Not only do I love Arcade Fire (I’m partial to their album The Suburbs though….) I also am a fan of Mr. Little Jeans (who all of you should check out!) and when I found their cover I fell in love immediately.

2. Golden by Parade of Lights

This is such a fun song to jam out to on Sundays (personally) and I love the lead singer’s voice, as well as the transitions throughout the song. I’ll be checking out more of Parade of Lights ASAP!

3. Cavalier originally  by James Vincent McMorrow, remix by The 1975

MY FAVORITE BAND REMIXED ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS. James Vincent McMorrow is an incredible vocalist and his songs are always touching and emotional, so this remix makes him even better. I actually am almost partial to this version of the song (the originally is in the Spotify playlist) but that might be because I heard it first…. Go check out James’s new album, Post Tropical!

Note: I’m not sure if the song will pull up on Spotify… I grabbed it from my personal collection but it’s not on Spotify. If not, it’s also on Soundcloud!
