When I saw Paper Towns last week, the thing I loved the most (other than Radar and Ben) was the soundtrack.
It’s an incredible mix of current indie musicians, both known and unknown. Plus, my favorite Bon Iver song, “Re: Stacks”, is featured in a particularly beautiful moment of the movie, and caused some serious freaking out in the theater.

“Lost it Trying” by Son Lux
I particularly love the intro, which is the definition of a midnight driving song. It has such a big sound, and is such a unique track. It slowly progresses into the more intense middle section, which I absolutely adore. Son Lux has become a recent obsession of mine, and this track is a particular favorite.
“Search Party” by Sam Bruno
There is something about this song that is so easy to love. It’s an easy song to sing a long to, and is such a radio song without being one at the same time. (Meaning it’ll be popular, I think.) It’s a dancing, a singing, a driving, a cleaning – an everything song.
“To The Top” by Twin Shadow
“To The Top” is a big song by definition. It feels like you’re sitting on top of the world, and looking down at it for the first time. Twin Shadow almost sounds Imagine Dragons-y in this track, so I’d definitely check it out if you’re a fan of them.
“Burning” by The War on Drugs
Me and The War on Drugs have such a complicated relationship. I like some of their songs, but not all of them (check out their album though – it’s incredible!). This one is definitely one I love though. It’s musicality and similarity to a lot of other bands I love (St. Lucia, Arcade Fire, and Haerts particularly) is probably why!
“Re: Stacks” by Bon Iver
Bon Iver is kind of my everything.
I own every single Bon Iver song ever released, and “Re: Stacks” is probably my favorite of all of them. It’s such a beautiful and haunting track that is perfect for evening car rides, rainy days, and thinking moments. I love it for writing emotional scenes as well, and in Paper Towns is fit so perfectly.
“Runaway (U & I) – Svidden and Jarly Remix” by Galantis
An incredible remix. It’s perfect for the scene in the movie it’s used for, and such a dancing song. Perfect for nights and fun moments with friends! I need to listen to the original song now.
