April Wrap-Up

On the last day of every month I’ll be doing a wrap-up with my favorite books, music, and posts from that month.

This month, I took the ACT, read a ton of books, and was incredibly busy. I also took on a challenge to write 30 blog posts, and you can see how I did at the end of this post. See what I loved in books, music, and blogging below!

Solitaire by Alice Oseman | Goodreads

A story of a girl, a boy, and one weird group called “Solitaire”. Alice Oseman’s debut novel blew me away, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you all when my review goes up in May!

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo | Goodreads

I have been a fan of this series since I got it as an ARC of Shadow and Bone. Leigh is an incredible writer, and Ruin and Rising got me so emotional. The end of this series absolutely killed me.

My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga | Goodreads

This book is an emotional ride from start to finish. It tells the story of Aysel, a teenage girl who wants to kill herself and finds a partner, Roman, to help her. The only problem is that she begins to care about him, which makes suicide not such an easy option. My Heart and Other Black Holes is a funny, touching, and beautiful story of love – both the romantic and the personal kind.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch | Goodreads

Snow Like Ashes is by far the best high fantasy I’ve read this year. The world of Snow Like Ashes is stunning and the characters are diverse and complex. The love triangle was incredibly well-done, and the world building blew me away – to say the least, I’m in love. Give me book two RIGHT NOW.

The Boy in the Black Suit by Jason Reynolds | Goodreads

Jason Reynolds is an incredible writer, and The Boy in the Black Suit proves that. Matt, the main character, has lost his mother and now his father is turning to alcohol for solace, leaving Matt to grieve on his own. His journey of grief, love, and understanding is beautiful, and one everyone should read.

Give Me A Try by The Wombats

I am a hardcore fan of The Wombats, and their new album “Glitterbug” is phenomenal. ‘Give Me A Try’ is a single off the album and quite possibly my favorite song on the entire album.

Floods by Sir Sly

Sir Sly is one of my favorite bands, and I finally got around to buying their debut album this month. It’s been on repeat in my car, and ‘Floods’ is by far my favorite off the album. (‘Inferno’ is a close second though!)

bodyache by Purity Ring

If you’re an electro-pop fan and you haven’t listened to Purity Ring, you’re missing out. Their newest album, “another eternity”, is incredible, and ‘bodyache’ is my favorite song off of it.

I Blame Myself by Sky Ferreira

This is my ultimate cheer up jam. Sky Ferreira is one heck of a singer, and ‘I Blame Myself’ is my favorite of hers. I re-discovered it this month when I put my songs on shuffle, and I immediately remembered how much I loved it.

I Feel Again by Nic Hessler

I am full on in love with Nic Hessler. If you’ve seen my tweets, I’ve had this album on repeat for the past couple weeks, broke my album-buying-ban to buy it, and have just fallen head over heels. ‘I Feel Again’ is my favorite off the album, and I beg of you: LISTEN TO IT.

Here are some of my favorite posts I’ve done this month:

This month, I challenged myself to write 30 blog posts.

And guess what, guys?

This included both Willa’s Ramblings and Lit Up Review, but between the two I did it. Most of them were reviews (basically all of them were) but I did it. I’m so proud of myself, because through this challenge I got myself scheduled in June.

Happy April, everyone! AND LET’S CONQUER MAY. (I’m looking at you AP Exams.)

  • Jen

Girl you KILLLED APRIL!!! I’m so proud of ya ;D And omg I need to read SNOW LIKE ASHES!! It seems really amazing. I really loved MY HEART AND OTHER BLACK HOLES as well. I also dearly miss listening to the music you recommend, so I’ll have to give these songs a go sometime. 😉 I hope you’re just as successful in May!! <3

    • THANK YOU! Let’s hope May is equally as awesome despite AP and Finals. Ugh. And I’m trying to get more music content up, so let’s both hold onto that hope! Xo
